The digital revolution has changed the world of photography. Digital photography offers an excellent way to learn creative control of both color and black and white images. It also speeds the photographic process thanks to instantaneous feedback.
This class is the first of a three class series, designed to take you from the very beginning of digital photography to becoming an accomplished photographer. While these classes are designed to be taken in succession, you can start taking most of our workshops once you have completed this course.
In this class we will cover the basics of camera operation, picture composure, and an introduction to using Photoshop work. You will learn how depth of field, f-stops, ISO, shutter speed, and white balancing are all interrelated to create a good photograph.
Weekly assignments will be given to help you get involved and encourage you to explore a variety of shooting techniques. Each class will begin with a critique of student work and approach techniques needed to improve and grow for the next assignment.
The course includes an introduction to printing techniques, digital editing and workflow, although these topics are more fully taught in Digital 2 and in workshops. This class is designed to focus on taking a well composed photograph to begin the process with.
The final class will be a wine and cheese critique of the art you and your fellow students have produced.
This is the "ah ha" course where you glimpse the exciting art of photography. Guaranteed to make you a better photographer even if don't go any further. It's also a great review class if it's been a while. This class runs one afternoon or evening for 4 weeks. Class Limit: 12 people
