It often seems that photography was invented to record the human face. Certainly no other category of subject matter has so challenged so many photographers. Whether it's casual snaps or formal studio presentations, successful portraiture requires a solid understanding of specialized lighting techniques to capture the infinite variety of appearance, emotion and mood of the human face.
We have found that demonstrations and lectures don’t really teach lighting and portraiture effectively. Our workshop provides two sets of hands-on assignments designed to increase your ability to see, measure and control light, and to apply these skills to the creation of homemade professional portraits, at a minimum of expense.
The workshop will explain how to use readily available resources---such as your living room as a studio, lighting gear from the local hardware store and other improvised means and materials---to provide thoroughly professional results.
You will need a film or digital camera, preferably an SLR with exposure metering, and a tripod. A shutter release cable is also useful. Class Limit: 10 people
